What you'll receive
You'll receive:
- a scholarship valued at up to $3,000, paid over one year
- an annual AusCycling racing membership.
QUT Sport Scholarships have additional benefits, including:
- automatic membership to QUT's College of Excellence and Elite Athlete Program
- access to personal and professional development opportunities
- access to nutrition and sports psychology services and more.
Eligibility
To be considered for the QUT AusCycling Scholarship, you must:
- be an Australian citizen or an Australian permanent resident
- be a commencing or continuing QUT student
- be enrolled as a full-time or part-time student at QUT
- hold a minimum course grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 or above if you are a current student
- be a minimum of Talent 4 (T4) athlete categorisation level cyclist within the Sport Australia’s FTEM framework
This scholarship is open to all cycling disciplines listed on the AusCycling website.
How to apply
Applications for the QUT AusCycling Scholarship will open in 2026.
What happens next?
Your application will initially be assessed by AusCycling and QUT against the eligibility criteria. Only one application will be considered per athlete.
If your application is eligible it will then proceed to assessment against the selection criteria through a competitive process. This assessment will be undertaken by an assessment panel, which will comprise of representatives from AusCycling and QUT.
The assessment panel will consider each eligible application on its merits based on how well it meets the selection criteria and how it compares to other applications.
Conditions
To keep your QUT AusCycling scholarship, you must:
- maintain a grade point average (GPA) of 4.0 or higher in each semester
- represent QUT at a minimum of two targeted events or appearances each year, which may include:
- speaking at QUT Sport events
- contesting the National University Championships (if your sport is contested)
- participating in other campus events.
You can:
- take approved leave of absence from your course in accordance with the QUT Leave of Absence policy. Scholarship payments will be suspended during periods of leave
- concurrently receive a QUT Equity Scholarship, if eligible.
You can't:
- defer your scholarship offer. If you defer your course, you will need to reapply for the QUT AusCycling Scholarship the following year

About the scholarship
The vision of this scholarship is to encourage professional and elite cyclists at QUT. AusCycling works across all aspects of cycling and riding in Australia, from grassroots to elite. They represent all disciplines and participants at every step of the riding journey. Formed in November 2020 from 19 separate governing bodies, their goal is to unite, connect and grow cycling and riding in a sustainable, innovative, and inclusive way.
They represent more than 50,000 members and 450 clubs and proudly run the High Performance program which takes elite athletes to the Olympics, Paralympics, World and National Championships and more. Their ambition is to be a global leader in cycling, respected for their positive impact on and off the bike. AusCycling exist to ensure that current and future generations experience both the simple joy of riding a bike, and the opportunity to reach their full potential.
