Scholarship details
What you'll receive
- a scholarship valued at $5,000 for one year, paid in two instalments of $2,500 each.
This scholarship is offered in Semester 1 each year.
Eligibility
- an Australian citizen (including dual citizens)
- a permanent resident of Australia
- a permanent humanitarian visa holder
- a New Zealand citizen.
- from a low-income background
- experiencing financial hardship
- enrolled in or applying for UD40 Bachelor of Urban Development (Honours) (Construction Management).
This scholarship is not available to:
- single-unit study students - studying an individual unit at QUT, but not enrolled in a QUT course
- cross-institutional students - enrolled in a course at another university, but studying specific units at QUT and receiving credit towards your course at the other university
- QUT College students - studying one of the pathway programs offered by our international college, including foundation courses, university diplomas and English language courses.

What happens next?
All applications are assessed against selection criteria. We allocate scholarships based on need. Students with the greatest need will receive the highest value scholarships.
About the scholarship
The Learning Potential Fund provides support through scholarships and bursaries to students in financial need.
The Sir John Pidgeon Learning Potential Fund Scholarship was established by Ms Liz Pidgeon and Mr Graeme Wikman as a tribute to Sir John Pidgeon and to encourage disadvantaged and low-income students to undertake the Bachelor of Urban Development (Honours) (Construction Management) at QUT. Sir John Pidgeon was one of Queensland’s most respected business leaders and a building and property development icon.
