Eligibility
- You need to be a graduate of the Bachelor of Laws, Bachelor of Laws (Honours) or an associated double degree program.
- Have achieved a minimum standard of Second-Class Honours Division A.
- Have an outstanding track record in extra-curricular activities such as community service or sporting participation during the period of enrolment.
Examples considered suitable for this award include, but are not limited to:
- activities within QUT (such as participating in QUT Law Society or committees, being a student ambassador, peer mentoring, or representing the university in national or internal competitions)
- outside QUT (such as community service, volunteering or charitable work).

About the prize
As a founding Executive Dean, Tom Cain was known for his significant contributions to the establishment and growth of the Faculty of Law at QUT. He played a pivotal role in shaping its curriculum and fostering a vibrant and intellectually stimulating learning environment.
In recognition of his outstanding achievements, the Tom Cain Trophy is awarded annually to a Law graduate who demonstrates exceptional academic performance, extracurricular involvement, and a commitment to excellence. This prestigious award serves as a lasting tribute to Cain's legacy and his dedication to nurturing the next generation of legal professionals.
