Scholarship details
What you'll receive
You will receive a Women in Electrical Engineering top-up scholarship of up to $25,000. The scholarship is paid on a fortnightly basis and is tax-exempt for full-time students.
The top-up scholarship will be offered for a duration of 3.5 years for PhD students, and 1.75 years for Master of Philosophy students. The scholarship duration will be extended as appropriate for part-time enrolment, which is available in exceptional and/or compassionate circumstances, including caring responsibilities.
As the scholarship recipient, you will have the opportunity to work with a team of leading researchers, to undertake your own innovative research in and across the fields of robotics, electrical power and signal processing, machine learning and AI within the School of Electrical Engineering and Robotics.
Note: you are expected to be in receipt of a substantive scholarship as per the eligibility requirements.
Eligibility
To apply for this scholarship, you must meet the entry requirements for a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) or Master of Philosophy (MPhil) at QUT, including any English language requirements for international students.
In addition, this scholarship has specific eligibility conditions, including:
- applicants must identify as female
- you must apply and be successful in obtaining a substantive scholarship through the annual scholarship round or via an alternative scholarship opportunity
- prospective applicants must have identified or plan to identify a research project in a domain in a research team at the School of Electrical Engineering and Robotics
- applicants must nominate a proposed supervisor, and must make contact with the supervisor prior to submitting an expression of interest (EOI)
- applicants must be able to demonstrate an outstanding track record, for example first class honours and/or high-quality research outputs
- applications are not open to QUT current students (however are open to current QUT students who are applying to commence in a new degree at QUT).

The EOI must include:
- an up-to-date curriculum vitae (CV), including recent IELTS or equivalent scores for international applicants
- a research proposal, detailing the project you wish to undertake
- a short statement stating how you identify yourself and your individual journal and circumstances
- you must indicate that you are applying for this specific scholarship in the 'financial details' section of the application form.
