Why I switched to QUT
‘The difference between QUT’s Master of Architecture and my study at a different university is the practicality of QUT’s hands-on coursework, the welcoming environment, and the support from staff and peers. The tutors not only bring a wealth of professional experience but are also genuinely invested in student success. The course focuses on practical, industry-oriented learning, highlighting real-world connections and insights from guest lecturers.’

'I'll be assisting to set the vision and objectives for the infrastructure design for the Brisbane 2032 Olympic and Paralympic Games.'
Leah's 25-year architecture career includes working on large-scale projects including the Gold Coast Light Rail, Home of the Arts (HOTA) Gallery, and 2018 Commonwealth Games venues. As Queensland Government Architect, Leah provides design leadership, advocacy and advice to governments, industry and the community.
Advance your career
‘My master degree at QUT opened up my perspective of how a simple building can accommodate a variety of diverse people. Becoming a registered architect has propelled my career, I've had the experience to lead teams across multiple continents working on incredibly diverse, large-scale projects. I’ve been fortunate enough to bring this experience and knowledge back to Brisbane where my projects push the boundaries with a focus on sustainability.'
Lectures by industry leaders
‘In the Master of Architecture, we had iconic guest lecturers and experienced tutors that provided us with insight into some of Queensland’s most highly regarded and awarded architecture. Among many others, we had the privilege of hearing firsthand from Richard Kirk of KIRK Studio about the design and construction process of the Mon Repos Turtle Centre, followed by a site visit, which helped to inform our design response for our final assessment.’
Advance your skills
'My postgraduate degree has already helped me in my career by giving me a stronger understanding of management and administration aspects of the architectural practice as well as advancing my design and drafting skills. The comprehensive curriculum has laid a solid foundation for me to pursue registration and obtain the esteemed accreditation of an architect, marking a pivotal milestone in my career journey. QUT's accommodating approach enabled me to study my master’s part time while maintaining full-time employment.'
