Work integrated learning
Graduate with business experience through work integrated learning opportunities. Work integrated learning is part of every business course and involves authentic activities that allow you to apply and hone your growing business knowledge. These experiences combine coursework and assessment, with practical application in real-world settings.
Placements
You can add a work integrated learning experience to your course as an elective usually in the form of an internship with a workplace relevant to your major.
Workplace projects
Whilst collaborating with other students and with coaching from our academics, you could have the opportunity to respond to a current business challenge for an organisation.
International experiences
Participate in a study tour as a work integrated learning experience and receive academic credit.
Previous students have visited leading digital agencies overseas to see behind the scenes in marketing some of the world's greatest brands, whilst other students have visited and collaborated with students from global universities.
Capstone unit
Our business courses include a work integrated learning capstone unit which will give you a platform to develop and refine professional skills in your field of interest. You’ll be guided by academics and industry coaches to apply your discipline knowledge and skills in the workplace.
Real professional experiences
Hear from Soul who undertook a work integrated learning placement with a leading Brisbane fashion brand, Beginning Boutique.
'I've always been interested in fashion, so when I discovered Beginning Boutique was not only QUT's industry partner but somewhere I could intern, I applied straight away. The whole application process was very fast, and after the work integrated learning unit, I even ended up being hired full-time. Overall, it was a great experience, and thanks to QUT’s industry connections, I have secured my dream job.'
