'As a small town girl from a tight-knit family, I was nervous about moving to the city to study at QUT. But I soon found my feet, thanks in part to the Oodgeroo Unit who help Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students like me adapt and thrive. At QUT I've taken every opportunity that's come my way, and was named the Queensland Law Society's First Nations Law Student of the Year. It's been a challenging journey and QUT is helping me succeed.'

'I'm studying public health part-time because I'm a mum and I'm also working on projects on the side. I really appreciate and enjoy the support that the Oodgeroo Unit provides. It's a very welcoming and friendly environment. It's a good place to come so that I can focus on my goal, which is to complete my degree and to do well.'

'The Oodgeroo Unit has really helped me in my transition from high school to university, by providing a tutor that helps me on a weekly basis with my multiple units... One tip that I'll give to new students who are coming into university is to really immerse yourself in the university life, and a really good way to do that is to start in the Oodgeroo Unit and develop friendships.'
