Why I chose to do exchange at QUT
I was drawn to QUT because of its strong support for exchange and international students. The numerous activities planned at the start of the semester provided great opportunities to meet new people and make friends. Additionally, I wanted to experience a country with excellent weather, and Brisbane turned out to be the perfect city for enjoying both winter and spring while also giving me the chance to practice my English. I also wanted to get out of my comfort zone and experience new things. Going to Australia had always been a dream, of mine and being able to live here for six months was an opportunity I could not miss.
Studying at QUT
I was also pleasantly surprised by the small number of exams compared to assignments. I have just one final exam, with the rest of my courses primarily based on assignments.
QUT has made me feel welcomed from the very beginning, and I’ve never felt alone as an exchange student, thanks to the many others in the same situation. I appreciate being treated like any other student, with access to all the university's resources. My experience here has been fantastic, and I’m a bit sad that it’s coming to an end soon
Making new friends
I met a good friend at Welcome Week and a lot more at the study abroad and exchange welcome party. I have also made a few friends in my tutorial classes. During Welcome Week, I got involved in many activities such as coffees or lunches with other international students which was another way to meet new friends. I also have bought a ticket for QUT Surfers surf trip to Noosa which I’m very excited about!
Living in Brisbane
I chose to study in Brisbane because it's a more affordable city with perfect weather, especially since my semester started in winter. I love visiting Stradbroke Island, which is not far from the city and a great place to see kangaroos. I also enjoy walking along the river at South Bank. During my time here, I’ve had the opportunity to visit Sydney, Cairns, the Gold Coast, Byron Bay, Sunshine Coast, and Noosa.
