My pathway to IT at QUT
I chose to study a Master of Information Technology after achievements at my workplace underscored the importance of continuous innovation and the ability to adapt to evolving technologies and industry trends for any leading organisation.
QUT excels as a leading university for innovation and technology in the Asia Pacific region. I was particularly attracted to its emphasis on real world learning which resonates with my goal of gaining hands-on knowledge relevant to the future. I chose to enhance my education and expertise by enrolling in an advanced program focusing on digital innovation and technology management - the Master of Information Technology at QUT - with the intention of positioning myself ahead of competitors and steering my future accomplishments.
My favourite part of the course
One of my favourite parts of my course is the capstone industrial project. This unit focuses on building partnerships with industries and providing chances to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings through projects. I was even offered a job as a Business Analyst by the industry partner after I had presented the innovative prototype they were looking for, which gave me valuable practical experience and insights into the field.
The research project not only deepened my understanding of current market trends and also gave me a chance to share a creative idea about how IoT (the Internet of Things) can be used in agricultural technology in remote parts of Australia.
One thing that really amazed me about my course was how wide a variety of professional knowledge the lecturers shared with us and how supportive they were in helping us succeed. What truly caught my attention was the strong focus on gaining a deep understanding of various roles in industry and the hands-on practical skills that are both taught and expected in the classroom.
The work environment in Brisbane
Gaining work experience in Australia has been such a wonderful experience! I have had the opportunity to work with professionals from different backgrounds and cultures, which has really enriched my knowledge of global business practices. One thing that I absolutely adore about work culture in Australia is the emphasis on work-life balance, which has had a great impact on my well-being and productivity.
Brisbane is an international city, yet not as bustling as Sydney and Melbourne, therefore offering a great environment for studying. It also gives me countless chances to broaden my horizons and connect with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Real-world learning
The concept of 'real world' for me involves putting into practice the theoretical knowledge I’ve acquired in academic environments into real-life scenarios. My QUT course is 'real world' because it emphasised teaching practical skills, the learning approach is what is used in industry, and industry projects are incorporated. These opportunities enabled me to interact directly with professionals and acquire practical experience in my area of study. I recommend QUT to others because it is a university that fits the real world and provides practical, hands-on experience through industry partnerships and cutting-edge research initiatives.
