Interested in AI and Robotics? Join the QUT Robotics Club, where everyone is welcome! You'll gain exposure to industry speakers, participate in hands-on projects, and attend career events—offering a fantastic opportunity to build valuable connections and prepare for the real world.

Why join the QUT Robotics Club

QUT Robotics Club is a student-led club dedicated to promoting and fostering the learning of robotics within the QUT community. Everyone is welcome to join the club, no matter if you are new to robotics and AI or have lots of experience. As a member of the QUT Robotics club you will collaborate with likeminded peers, learn from passionate individuals and share your knowledge in a supportive environment. The club offers you opportunities to bring your ideas to life through learning, planning, building, and testing your projects.

What you can expect

  • Skill building workshops: Anyone can join the weekly Robotic 101 tutorial; no prior experience is required. Here you will begin building your skills such as 3D modelling, electrical circuit design, mapping techniques, programming and much more.
  • Project nights:  Every Tuesday is project night where members work on different tasks related to the Australian Rover challenge. The aim is to develop an autonomous rover that operates on a moon or Mars environment and then compete nationally against other universities.
  • Competitions and challenges: There is also the Droid racing challenge where you build an autonomous car that uses computer vision to drive along a track. This annual competition in July offers a thrilling opportunity to test your skills.
  • Support for your ideas: If you have your own robotics project in mind, the club will support you. As long as your idea is within the funding limits, you'll have access to materials and guidance to bring your vision to life.
  • Industry speakers and career events: Attend industry talks about AI and robotics with large companies such as CSIRO and QUT PhD students or connect with future employers at one of our career festivals.

Who should join?

The QUT Robotics Club is open to everyone. If you are studying Bachelor of Engineering (Honours), Master of Robotics and Artificial Intelligence or Master of Advanced Robotics and Artificial Intelligence, joining QUT Robotics club is an excellent way to gain practical skills and technical experience which is something that’s highly valued by Australian employers. Additionally, if you like to take part in the executive team it’s a great opportunity to develop leadership and teamwork skills. This is an excellent experience to have on your resume.

Start your adventure today!

The QUT Robotics Club is more than a club: it’s a community of people that will teach you how to apply theory into practice and gain real-world experience while nurturing your passion, giving you a head start for your future career in AI and Robotics.
