I chose the Master of Business (Management) at QUT because it offers a unique entrepreneurial approach that focuses on solving real-world issues and strongly emphasises their ethical implications. In my opinion, the course is designed to develop growth mindsets, providing us with the skillset necessary to challenge the status quo and lead with integrity and innovation. It’s about more than just learning management theories; it’s about applying them in a way that positively impacts the world.
Practical learning building technical skills
We learnt by working on projects directly related to actual industry issues. These projects were not just theoretical exercises but practical and applicable, allowing us to tackle real challenges and make meaningful contributions.
My favourite parts of the course were the entrepreneurship units and those focused on technical skills, like business intelligence. The entrepreneurship units were particularly meaningful because they encouraged us to think creatively and ethically about solving real-world problems. Likewise, the business intelligence units demonstrated QUT's commitment to providing top-notch and relevant knowledge to succeed in the competitive business landscape.
I’ve been fortunate enough to work in my profession while studying, providing me with an excellent opportunity to apply my theoretical knowledge in a corporate setting. This experience was invaluable, allowing me to see the real-world application of the concepts I learned in class. It also deepened my understanding of my profession, helping me create robust mental models where I've been able to integrate academic frameworks with practical insights.
Friends who enrich my QUT journey
I met most of my friends through my classes. Engaging in group projects, participating in discussions, and simply interacting during lectures and tutorials provided great opportunities to connect with classmates.
I've participated in a couple of entrepreneurship workshops and activities hosted by The Foundry. These activities have been truly meaningful for my academic experience, providing opportunities to network and gain insights into entrepreneurial thinking.
One of the most pleasant surprises about my course was the opportunity to connect with people from diverse cultural backgrounds. This enriched my learning experience immensely and broadened my perspective. I strongly recommend being open to challenging your own beliefs and understanding that the 'real world' means recognising that despite our apparent differences, we are all part of the solution to create a better world.
Global Innovation Challenge experience
Studying at a prestigious institution like QUT offers invaluable opportunities for students to engage in global alliances that significantly enhance their academic and professional profiles. Through partnerships with renowned business schools, QUT empowers its students to tackle real-world challenges, fostering a rich learning environment that emphasises collaboration, innovation, and practical application of knowledge.
Participating in the Global Innovation Challenge, hosted by BI Norwegian Business School in Oslo, Norway, while representing QUT, was a transformative experience that significantly enriched my academic journey. Over two weeks, I collaborated with peers from seven internationally accredited business schools to develop a digital strategy for a leading brand. This immersive experience allowed us to leverage human-centered design, cutting-edge digital tools, and the transformative power of AI, equipping us with the skills necessary to navigate the complexities of the modern business landscape.
This experience not only broadened my perspective of the world but also deepened my empathy and critical thinking, reinforcing the value of global collaboration in driving innovation and positive change. Engaging in such initiatives is vital for aspiring business leaders, as it prepares us to tackle the challenges of an interconnected world with creativity and integrity.

I chose QUT because of its worldwide prestige and reputation. The university’s campuses are in the heart of Brisbane, providing a perfect environment surrounded by a multicultural community. This diversity enriches the learning experience and prepares us to thrive in a global marketplace.
The 'real world' means that academia cannot be separated from the business world, and success relies on the integrated and strategic work between academia, private and public sectors. The university’s central city location means QUT and the business world work closely together, including the many tutors and lecturers who work in industry and are leaders in their fields.
The professors and staff are incredibly supportive, creating an atmosphere where we feel safe, valued, and empowered to achieve our best. QUT is the place to be for an exceptional academic journey and an unforgettable experience.
