Pathway to professionalism
‘Throughout my degree, I’ve been a web editor for the Frocket Zine student club and an events officer for the QUT Journalism Network student society. I enjoyed being able to pursue my passions while meeting a diverse range of people. My involvement in the QUT Journalism Network society helped me secure a job as a radio news announcer at Brisbane community radio station 4ZZZ.’
Make new friends
'I'm a part of the College of Excellence, which is a group for high achieving students. Members are given the opportunity to develop their skills, increase their global experience and broaden their network with like-minded peers. I really appreciate being given this opportunity, which has provided me with useful knowledge but also some great friends.'
Try new things
'I'm a member of the Surfer’s club which gave me the opportunity to go to Byron Bay. I got to try surfing for the first time and met so many new friends, it was an amazing experience. Joining the social clubs and attending lots of their events made it easier to settle into a new country and to university, I can really recommend it.'
Engage with your interests
'Some standout moments at QUT were the fantastic events organised by the university and my involvement in BAMSA (Business and Management Student Association) as a club executive. Given my degree focus, I've actively joined business clubs like QUTTIC (QUT Trading and Investment Club) and AMPed (QUT's Advertising, Marketing, PR and International Business club). I've acquired valuable skills in event organisation and forged meaningful friendships along the way.'
