When you arrive

When you fly in, we can pick you up from Brisbane airport and take you to your accommodation.

Before you commence the study semester, you’ll attend an international student orientation session to make sure you have all the information you need. You’ll also be able to attend university-wide orientation events like Welcome Week to meet other students, explore our campuses and join student clubs and societies.

HiQ

HiQ is our general queries team that helps current students with enquiries such as class timetabling, course information or IT issues. If they can't answer your question directly, they'll connect you with someone who can.

You can visit HiQ on campus, chat with them online or call them over the phone.

The Student Services team provides support related to your personal and financial wellbeing. They can help with services like booking a counselling appointment or accessing disability support, with specialised staff dedicated to supporting international students.

Financial help

Managing your money while studying can be challenging. Our welfare officers can help you manage your finances and access financial support.

While you’re studying, you may be able to access Equity Emergency Bursaries and Equity Work Integrated Learning Bursaries to help you meet basic study and living expenses.

We also offer a wide range of scholarships for students from all backgrounds, including merit scholarships for high-achieving students and Equity scholarships for low-income students. Explore the scholarships we offer and apply for any you're eligible for.

Health and accessibility

Disability and accessibility services

QUT Disability and Accessibility is part of QUT Student Services. If you have a disability, injury or health condition, we can provide you with information and services while you study.

Our disability advisers are availble at both our campuses and offer appointments in person or via phone/online at the National Relay Service.

QUT Medical Centre provides medical care and information including:

  • general medicine
  • men's and women's health
  • travel medicine
  • immunisations
  • sexual health
  • mental health
  • skin checks.

QUT Health Clinics also offer free or low-cost appointments in:

  • exercise and movement
  • optometry
  • podiatry

  • counselling.

If you're on a student visa you must have valid Overseas Student Health Cover.

Campus safety

Student safety is our biggest priority. We have friendly and helpful security officers on campus 24/7 who you can call from your phone or from multiple call points around campus.

We encourage students to download our campus safety app, which connects you to QUT Security while on campus.

We also offer a free night-safe transfer services to help you get safely to your car or nearby public transport or accommodation when leaving the campus at night.

LGBTIQA+ support

We’re proud to support our staff and students who identify as lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, intersex, queer or questioning, asexual, agender or aromantic, and those with other diverse genders and sexualities (LGBTIQA+). Our Ally network provides support, safe zones, services, events, information, and resources to the QUT community.

You’ll be able to access counselling, medical services and specialist health clinics that can help you with any health concerns.

Our QUT Guild and Queer Collective have a strong history of representing diversity on campus and contributing to a safe, fair, and equitable experience for all students.

QUT provides chaplaincy support for students of all faiths. Our bookable spaces, prayer rooms, student clubs and pastoral care are available to all students.
