Each year, the Faculty of Business and Law acknowledges its top-performing students from QUT Business School and Law School.
More than 60 sponsored and School-based prizes have been awarded to undergraduate and postgraduate students to recognise their outstanding achievements.
This year’s ceremony brought together over 190 students, sponsors, staff, and families to celebrate their achievements in the 2023 academic year.
Max Crane, QUT alumnus and former prize recipient, shared his advice with students and encouraged them to embrace the unexpected.
Graduating with a double degree Bachelor of Business (Economics)/Bachelor of Law (Honours) in 2021 and now working as a Lawyer with Corrs Chambers Westgarth, Max said:
“No matter how much planning you do, how much determination and commitment you have to follow a certain pathway, our professional lives will ultimately be guided by the opportunities that unexpectedly present themselves.
The most important thing is to take those opportunities when they come. Often, these opportunities are hidden or don’t necessarily look like opportunities. More precisely, the opportunity is the relationship you can build or the friendship you can form rather than the line item you can add to your CV.
The unexpected and perhaps camouflaged opportunities are often the most rewarding; almost always, it’s the people you meet along the way. At each step of my short career so far, I have been supported by friends and colleagues without whom I would be somewhere totally different,” he said.
With the support of various sponsors, including community organizations, industry bodies, and individuals, students are recognized with prizes ranging from monetary awards to professional development courses and mentoring. This event would not be possible without their generosity.
