Study genomics
‘I am developing a novel technique to visualise the gut microbiome, which will provide unprecedented insight into the fine-scale dynamics of the gut microbial community. I would not be undertaking a PhD without the completion of the Masters in Diagnostic Genomics. The course gave me connections with academics and provided me an amazing research dissertation that I enjoyed.’
Study occupational health and safety
‘From leaving the Army in 2007 I found working in construction keeps me connected to a team environment. I enjoy being involved in the construction projects and watching the builds progress. I’ve come to uni later in life. The connections and opportunities at QUT are good. You hear from people in the industry and benefit from their insights. Field visits and networking opportunities are valuable and really do assist with your career.’
Study environmental health
‘Working as an Environmental Health Officer is great! You get to go out into the community and interact with people from all walks of life, while also making a positive impact on public health outcomes. I was fortunate to be taught by my course coordinator who previously worked as an Environmental Health Officer. They provided a real and unfiltered perspective on what to expect and helped me make the best decisions for my professional growth.’
Study digital health leadership
‘As a telehealth coordinator I play a pivotal role in ensuring patients are supported in their consultations. My academic background is in public health. I also had a strong interest in technology so I was keen to find a role that combined the two. I found my study experience to be incredibly flexible, with blended learning opportunities both on-campus and online settings. The staff provided ample resources for learning well beyond the structured course syllabus.’
