This new and innovative program provides practical support and paid work experience while you study a teaching qualification.

Be part of the QUT EQuIPT hubs in one of these regions in 2025:

  • Innisfail and Tully
  • Goondiwindi and St George.

Additional hubs will be announced for future study intakes.

QUT has been selected by the Federal Government to offer EQuIPT program from 2025, semester one. The program is an important initiative to address teacher shortages in rural and regional areas.

To apply for the EQuIPT Program, you must be eligible for admission into one of the following courses:

Benefits

Flexible study options

Study your course online and undertake professional experience placements in the local regional hub.

Full time or part time study options are available.

Earn while you learn

While you study, you’ll gain paid employment in roles such as Teacher Aide, Community Teacher, Science Technician, Youth Support Officer, Vocational Trainer and/or Teacher.

We will help you find the best-fit role for you.

Financial support

You’ll receive a scholarship of $12,000 (Bachelor of Education) or $8,000 (Master of Teaching), paid in instalments during your course.

Your course is eligible for a Commonwealth Supported Place.

Program conditions

There are a number of conditions you must meet during the program.

You must:

  • be located within the hub regions
  • be willing to undertake an employment-based role in a local school while you study
  • demonstrate a commitment to teach in a Queensland school within the priority regions
  • be an Australian citizen or have permanent residency status in Australia
  • teach for up to one year in a school in a hub region after you graduate.

How to apply

Follow these steps to apply for the EQuIPT program at QUT.

  1. Submit your QTAC application listing one of the eligible QUT courses as your first preference.
  2. Email your expression of interest to equipt@qut.edu.au . You will be contacted by the QUT EQuIPT program with further instructions on how to complete your application.
