This engineering foundation unit introduces concepts of physics and the strength of materials in an engineering context. You will develop the ability to recognise and apply methods to solve fundamental problems involving forces, motion and energy and to solve more complex problems involving pressures, mechanical stresses, strain and the deformation of solids as an introduction to predicting the behaviour of engineering systems. You will undertake laboratory work in groups to plan and conduct experiments to predict and analyse the behaviour of physical systems.
