This 2nd-year unit introduces the fundamentals of fluid mechanics applied by engineers to understand and characterize fluid flows. The concepts, principles and equations of fluid mechanics are presented in the context of real engineering systems. The unit will provide you with the ability to apply and solve problems related to hydrostatics, explain and report how basic fluid mechanics is used in hydraulic structures and fluid systems, and apply the energy and momentum equations. This unit also contains an embedded mathematics component (30%) to provide intermediate level vector calculus as well as dynamical systems and their stability to support student learning in intermediate level engineering units.","title-full":"EGB323 Fluid Mechanics","title-short":"Fluid Mechanics","url":{"current":"https://qutvirtual4.qut.edu.au/group/student/enrolment/units/unit?unitCode=EGB323&year=2025","prospective":"https://www.qut.edu.au/study/unit?unitCode=EGB323","timetable":"https://qutvirtual3.qut.edu.au/qvpublic/ttab_unit_search_p.process_teach_period_search?p_unit_cd=EGB323"},"year":2025,"years":[2024,2025]}
