It presents a new approach to the study of fashion history as an exchange between cultures through a critical and interdisciplinary approach. The unit provides you with the opportunity to build your fashion knowledge in the context of complex global cultural and commercial exchanges in fashion. It unravels competing cultural and political discourses of dress in colonial contexts, recognising the multiple sites that contributed to the emergence of fashion. It provides you with skills in written and oral communication; research and visual analysis; and creative skills. Importantly, it will help you to identify and understand current influences and future directions in contemporary fashion design.","title-full":"DFB209 Global Fashion History","title-short":"Global Fashion History","url":{"current":"https://qutvirtual4.qut.edu.au/group/student/enrolment/units/unit?unitCode=DFB209&year=2025","prospective":"https://www.qut.edu.au/study/unit?unitCode=DFB209","timetable":"https://qutvirtual3.qut.edu.au/qvpublic/ttab_unit_search_p.process_teach_period_search?p_unit_cd=DFB209"},"year":2025,"years":[2025]}
