The unit develops student knowledge and skills around various machining and super finishing techniques including 3D printing and Bio-fabrication. This unit also introduces some key concepts of Lean Manufacturing along with industrial automation basics to ensure growth in the highly competitive global marketplace, ensuring organisations maximise customer value and minimise process waste. Broadly this unit will provide knowledge in manufacturing including process capability and process sequencing with a Lean manufacturing edge. The students will benefit from a Mid-semester quiz, a semester-long group project focussing on the manufacturing processes supported by two lab demonstration sessions on machining techniques and 3D printing, and a Final Exam (invigilated).","title-full":"EGB435 Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Automation","title-short":"Advanced Manufacturing and Industrial Automation","url":{"current":"https://qutvirtual4.qut.edu.au/group/student/enrolment/units/unit?unitCode=EGB435&year=2025","prospective":"https://www.qut.edu.au/study/unit?unitCode=EGB435","timetable":"https://qutvirtual3.qut.edu.au/qvpublic/ttab_unit_search_p.process_teach_period_search?p_unit_cd=EGB435"},"year":2025,"years":[2024,2025]}
