However, there are many threats to the security of information assets, and security controls are required. Cryptographic algorithms enable practical security services such as confidentiality and integrity assurance for stored or transmitted data, and authentication of entities and data. This unit will provide an in-depth understanding of cryptographic algorithms, and the application of modern cryptographic techniques to protect information in a range of situations. It will also provide an understanding of the limitations of these cryptographic techniques, and the need for effective key management. This unit follows IFN583 Computers and Security, and IFN635 Cyber Security and Governance, and is a detailed examination of a set of cryptographic mechanisms using mathematical and analytical algorithms to protect information assets.","title-full":"IFN648 Applied Cryptography","title-short":"Applied Cryptography","url":{"current":"https://qutvirtual4.qut.edu.au/group/student/enrolment/units/unit?unitCode=IFN648&year=2025","prospective":"https://www.qut.edu.au/study/unit?unitCode=IFN648","timetable":"https://qutvirtual3.qut.edu.au/qvpublic/ttab_unit_search_p.process_teach_period_search?p_unit_cd=IFN648"},"year":2025,"years":[2025]}
