It is crucial that a level designer has the ability to lay out levels, construct levels within the game engines, plan gameplay scenarios and place non-player characters. This unit will help students develop these abilities as well as skills such as building terrain, building architecture and spaces, balancing gameplay, integrating narrative elements and goals, playtesting and implementing iterative design improvements, designing lighting and atmospheric effects and other genre-specific level design skills using the Unreal game engine. Students are expected to have some degree of high level game design skills and preliminary scripting abilities for this unit.","title-full":"IGB321 Immersive Game Level Design","title-short":"Immersive Game Level Design","url":{"current":"https://qutvirtual4.qut.edu.au/group/student/enrolment/units/unit?unitCode=IGB321&year=2025","prospective":"https://www.qut.edu.au/study/unit?unitCode=IGB321","timetable":"https://qutvirtual3.qut.edu.au/qvpublic/ttab_unit_search_p.process_teach_period_search?p_unit_cd=IGB321"},"year":2025,"years":[2024,2025]}
