Each week in this unit we will look at how one writer produces a particular technique or effect well, we will unpack at a language level exactly what they are doing, and then we will use this understanding to produce a written piece for the week employing that technique. In essence, this unit provides an opportunity to develop different writing techniques through guided writing exercises and theoretical analyses of texts with an emphasis on style and effect. Here you move beyond the basic elements of fiction and develop advanced techniques in creative and professional writing at a low, language-oriented level.
