It enables us to understand the incidence and prevalence of disease, and causative and preventative factors. It is an important skill for all health professionals and is essential for those working in public health. This unit will cover calculating, interpreting and communicating epidemiological data to the general public and health professional audiences. Critical appraisal skills are applied to identify the strengths and weaknesses of research articles, and assess the validity and usefulness of the research findings. By applying the concepts learned in this unit to current public health problems and issues, you will contextualise the practice of epidemiology as it relates to real life and recognise its role in informing health promotion, public health programs and policies.","title-full":"PUB326 Introduction to Epidemiology","title-short":"Introduction to Epidemiology","url":{"current":"https://qutvirtual4.qut.edu.au/group/student/enrolment/units/unit?unitCode=PUB326&year=2025","prospective":"https://www.qut.edu.au/study/unit?unitCode=PUB326","timetable":"https://qutvirtual3.qut.edu.au/qvpublic/ttab_unit_search_p.process_teach_period_search?p_unit_cd=PUB326"},"year":2025,"years":[2025]}
