Real-world workshops
'The highlight of my study experience has been the opportunity to freely explore and push the boundaries of design with the use of QUT's state-of-the-art design and fabrication workshop. I had the opportunity to use a laser-cutting machine to create a full 3D model of an iconic Brisbane building with only the floor plans as a guide. The diversity of projects that I have completed at QUT has left me with a portfolio of interesting work that has greatly strengthened my interviews with industry professionals.'

Careers and outcomes
As an interior designer, you may choose to work independently, in a small or large practice or in a multidisciplinary firm specialising in large-scale architectural and property development projects, either locally or overseas. Alternative career options include retail, theatre and event design, and exhibition design, such as in a gallery or museum. To become a registered architect, you’ll need to undertake two more years of training in our Master of Architecture program, and then pass the Architectural Practice Exam once you’ve completed two years of practical experience.
With many major projects planned for Queensland over the next 10 years, including the Star Brisbane casino, Waterfront Brisbane and Brisbane 2032 Olympics, there’s never been a more exciting time to combine a degree in Architecture Design with a Bachelor of Built Environment (Honours) (Interior Design).
