What to expect

Your course begins with a three-year Bachelor Architectural Design followed by a two-year Master of Architecture. 

Upon graduating, you’ll meet the academic requirements for membership of the Australian Institute of Architects. 

To become a registered architect, you’ll need to pass the Architectural Practice Exam once you’ve completed two years of practical experience.

Within three weeks of successfully completing this course with a minimum GPA of 4.50, you will be automatically offered a place in the Master of Architecture.

Details and units

The Bachelor of Architectural Design consists of 24 units (288 credit points), arranged as follows:

  1. 7 core units (84 credit points)
  2. 11 major units including Work Integrated Learning (132 credit points),
  3. One minor, or 48 credit points of option units (48 credit points),
  4. 4 QUT You units of your choice (24 credit points, comprising 4 x 6 credit point units).

 

To meet the Master of Architecture course requirements, you must complete a total of 192 credit points, made up of:

  • four design studio units (24 credit points each)
  • eight core units (12 credit points each).

The four design studio units form the cornerstone of this course and emphasise authentic learning by doing, collaborative approaches to knowledge building, and project-based approaches to learning.

QUT College Diploma in Architectural Studies graduates will automatically receive an offer to start the Architectural Design within two weeks after completion of the diploma.
