Bachelor of Communication (Community and Public Relations)
Social media provides individuals and organisations with a powerful voice to share their opinions, build brands, and tell impactful stories. Information also circulates much more rapidly in the digital era. The need to build and enhance relationships between organisations, individuals, and stakeholders - and mitigate potential crises - has never been more critical.
This major prepares you to deliver reputational outcomes for clients. You will learn how to maintain effective relationships, build reputations, influence opinions, and manage crises. There is a particular emphasis through the School of Communication on fundamental communication skills, social media management, and digital analytics.

In order to complete this course, you must complete a total of 384 credit points comprising 180 credit points from the Bachelor of Communication, 180 credit points from the Bachelor of Information Technology, and 24 credit points of QUT You. You will undertake both degree components concurrently.
Communication component:
- Six core units - 72 credit points
- A Communication major - 96 credit points
- One Communication Unit Option - 12 credit points
Information Technology component:
- Eight (8) IT Core units (96 credit points)
- Seven (7) Major units (84 credit points): Computer Science or Information Systems
QUT You: 24 credit points
