Why choose this course?

QUT will recognise your diploma qualifications so you can graduate in two years instead of three. If you are an enrolled nurse with a current AHPRA registration and you completed your diploma within 10 years prior to admission to the Bachelor of Nursing, you can receive one year of advanced standing (credit).

Nurses are in high demand across Australia and play an important role in the delivery of person-centred care within a range of settings. QUT equips nursing graduates with the capability to engage people as informed partners in their health care.

Graduates of this degree are prepared to excel in a profession where the scope of practice is expanding and there are greater responsibilities for delivery of more complex interventions in a range of healthcare settings and across diverse populations.

Our School of Nursing is one of Australia's largest and most established nursing school, with over 40 years of industry consultation and experience. We are ranked sixth in Australia for nursing by the QS World University Rankings by Subject 2024.

QUT collaborates with industry partners, discipline, and research experts to develop course content that reflects the latest emerging healthcare trends and related nursing practice. You will learn from some of Australia’s most respected and influential nurse academics and researchers.

Real-world learning

You will develop your skills and confidence, learning in purpose-built, on-campus facilities that replicate the hospital environment, technology, and equipment. Realistic scenarios and practical learning approaches will prepare you to work in a range of nursing environments.

Our Clinical Simulation Centre contains operational hospital rooms where you will practise with real equipment and the latest technology in a simulated environment.

Your experience in real industry settings begins during second semester of your first year and continues with clinical placement experience every semester thereafter.

All students are scheduled for 840 hours of clinical practice with a minimum of 800 hours required for registration. You will receive extensive support that includes continual feedback on your performance from clinical facilitators, and mentoring relationships with registered nurses. You may also have the opportunity to apply to travel overseas and provide health services to communities in developed and developing countries.
