If you are an enrolled nurse with a current AHPRA registration and you completed your diploma within 10 years prior to admission to the Bachelor of Nursing, you can receive one year of advanced standing (credit).

Real-world learning
You will develop your skills and confidence, learning in purpose-built, on-campus facilities that replicate the hospital environment, technology, and equipment. Realistic scenarios and practical learning approaches will prepare you to work in a range of nursing environments.
Our Clinical Simulation Centre contains operational hospital rooms where you will practise with real equipment and the latest technology in a simulated environment.
Your experience in real industry settings begins during second semester of your first year and continues with clinical placement experience every semester thereafter.
All students are scheduled for 840 hours of clinical practice with a minimum of 800 hours required for registration. You will receive extensive support that includes continual feedback on your performance from clinical facilitators, and mentoring relationships with registered nurses. You may also have the opportunity to apply to travel overseas and provide health services to communities in developed and developing countries.

As a QUT nursing graduate you will be skilled in delivering safe and competent practice across diverse populations, responding to the challenges of health care with agility and resilience, and engaging consumers as informed partners in their health care.
You will use your prior study as an enrolled nurse to launch straight into the second year of the Bachelor of Nursing. You will develop your understanding of pharmacology, emphasising quality use of medicines. These studies are complemented with opportunities to apply nursing theory to clinical practice in our on-campus facilities and in clinical placements off campus.
Graduates of this degree are prepared to excel in a profession where the scope of practice is expanding, and there are greater responsibilities for delivering more complex interventions in various healthcare settings and across diverse populations.

Nurses are in high demand around Australia according to the 2022 Skills Priority List. Nursing graduates have excellent employment opportunities in a variety of health care settings or health promotion agencies.
Nursing is one of the most diverse health professions and provides employment opportunities in Australia and overseas.
Employment can be in general and specialist areas such as emergency, paediatrics or mental health, and in areas of health care beyond the traditional hospital ward including community health, 'hospital in the home' care, school health, alcohol and drug dependence, and the armed services.
You could choose to complete further study and become specialist in acute care nursing, cancer nursing, emergency nursing, intensive care nursing, mental health nursing, or paediatric, child and youth health nursing.
Nurses are in demand all over the world and QUT nursing graduates have been successful in obtaining employment overseas, including in Britain, European Union, New Zealand and North America.
Professional recognition
NS42 Bachelor of Nursing is recognised by the Australian College of Nursing as satisfying the academic requirements for admission as a professional member. NS42 Bachelor of Nursing is an accredited Nursing Pre-registration course of the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council / Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia.
Student registration
QUT automatically registers students enrolled in this course with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia in accordance with the Health Practitioner Regulation National Law Act 2009. Details about student registration are available from the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency.

Entry requirements
You must have current AHPRA registration as an Enrolled Nurse (Division 2) (General) without restriction etc.
You must have completed one of the following qualifications in 2015 or more recently:
- HLT54121 Diploma of Nursing
- HLT54115 Diploma of Nursing
- HLT51612 Diploma of Nursing (Enrolled - Division 2 nursing)
If:
- You do not have current registration; or
- You have current registration with restrictions etc; or
- Your diploma was completed more than 10 years ago.
You will need to undertake the full three-year program Bachelor of Nursing (QTAC code 425231); i.e. you will not be eligible for advanced standing for your diploma studies.

If you achieve an ATAR or selection rank of 80.00 or higher (including any adjustments) and satisfy all other admission requirements, you are guaranteed an offer for this course.
VET guarantee
