The Diploma in Architectural Studies/Bachelor of Architectural Studies is a combined pathway option that introduces you to the key concepts of architecture in a supportive learning environment and progresses you straight into your second year of your bachelor degree.
You will learn through university-style lectures, tutorials and workshops with a focus on the development of your independent learning skills. You will join a collaborative learning community in which you will receive the support you need to succeed.
All units adopt a blended approach to learning. On-campus classes are supported by online activities. You’ll benefit from additional contact hours with experienced QUT educators allowing for a learning experience that’s tailored to your needs.
Upon the completion of your Diploma in Architectural Studies, you will progress straight into the second year of the Bachelor of Architectural Design, where you’ll be taught by practising architects with direct links to industry. You will also undertake real-world projects in our advanced design studios and fabrication workshops, just as you would in a real architectural practice.

The Diploma in Architectural Studies consists of 96 credit points and is normally completed in one year of full-time study. Upon completion of the Diploma, you will progress straight into the Bachelor of Architectural Design.

Upon graduation from the Bachelor of Architectural Design, you can pursue a variety of careers ranging from design-centric roles like residential and commercial architecture to specialised roles like visualisation design and sustainability design consultancy.
