The Diploma in Architectural Studies consists of 96 credit points and is normally completed in one year of full-time study. Once you complete the Diploma component of your degree, you will be able to progress straight into the Bachelor of Built Environment, with your choice of major:

Open graduating from the Bachelor of Built Environment (Honours) (Interior Design) or Bachelor of Built Environment (Honours) (Landscape Architecture), you’ll have a wide array of career options:
Interior design
With an Interior Design degree, you have a range of exciting career paths to choose from. You can work independently, join a small or large design practice, or become part of a multidisciplinary firm that handles major architectural and property development projects, whether locally or internationally.
You might also explore roles in retail, theatre and event design, or exhibition design in places like galleries or museums.
As a QUT interior design graduate, you'll be eligible for Graduate Membership with the Design Institute of Australia (DIA).
Landscape architecture
With a landscape architecture degree, you could work on a variety of projects, from designing or evaluating spaces like national parks, urban parks, and playgrounds to working on campuses, monuments, mining sites, transportation corridors, waterways, coasts, and post-industrial areas. Many graduates even choose to gain international experience, exploring different professional and cultural contexts.
As a student or graduate, you’ll also be eligible to join the Australian Institute of Landscape Architects (AILA), opening up even more opportunities for professional growth and networking.
Diploma in Architectural Studies
Students complete eight units (96 credit points) comprising of seven discipline specific units and one academic skills unit.
You must complete all 96 credit points to meet the course requirements and once you have successfully completed the diploma, you will be automatically offered a place in the Bachelor of Built Environments (Honours). Your diploma units will be credited into your degree.
Bachelor of Built Environments (Honours)
Students will have the choice of either the Interior Design or Landscape Architecture major to receive all 96 credit points of advanced standing. You will complete the remaining 288 credit points of the Bachelor degree.

If you have prior studies or work experience, you may be eligible for advanced standing (credit). You can apply for advanced standing once you've been accepted to QUT. If you're in your first semester of study, you must apply for advanced standing within 10 days of receiving your offer.
