What to expect

The Diploma in Health Science (Nursing) is a premium pathway into QUT’s Bachelor of Nursing (NS42). This diploma prepares you to meet the requirements for entry into QUT's Bachelor of Nursing.

  • On completion with the required results, receive a guaranteed place in Bachelor of Nursing with 7 units of advanced standing.
  • Study first year academic content.
  • Join a collaborative and close-knit learning community in which you will receive the support you need to succeed.
  • Receive additional academic and language support providing a smooth transition into the Faculty of Health.
  • Develop academic English language skills.

Real-world facilities

This course is taught at QUT College, which is located at QUT's Kelvin Grove campus. The College is where you will spend most of your time going to classes and getting to know other international students. You will receive a QUT Student ID card which will give you access to all QUT's outstanding facilities, making you part of the fun and exciting QUT university community right from the start. Course articulation

To progress into QUT's Bachelor of Nursing you will need to meet the conditions listed in your offer letter, including:

  • successful completion of the Diploma of Health Science (Nursing) with a minimum grade point average (GPA) of at least 4.00 on a 7-point scale

If you are going to progress into the Bachelor of Nursing course, you will need to take one of the approved English language tests in order to meet the English language proficiency requirements. To improve your academic English language skills to achieve an IELTS 7.0 (sub-scores 7.0), we offer an IELTS Advanced program.

Advanced Standing

After successful completion of the Diploma in Health Science (Nursing), you are eligible for 84 credit points (7 units) of advanced standing towards Bachelor of Nursing (NS42).

It will take 2 years to complete:

  • July entry into Bachelor of Nursing: 2 years (includes 1 summer semester)

It will take 2.5 years to complete:

  • February entry into Bachelor of Nursing: 2.5 years (including 1 summer semester)
