Flexible study
'I run a business and have a young family, so time is precious in my household. The Executive MBA has been designed with an executive lifestyle in mind—you come onto campus for three days of the month and then use a hybrid learning structure for the remainder of the program. I wouldn't have been able to undertake the program without this hybrid approach.'
Experienced cohort
'I knew my learning style would better suit a more engaged program with a consistent cohort of students, which is why I chose QUT’s Executive MBA in Canberra. The connections I have made have been invaluable. It’s essentially given me my own advisory board that I can call on to talk through challenges. The Canberra program attracts an experienced cohort and completing the intensive program together built a strong bond between us.'
Make a difference
'As Head of Communications at The Fred Hollows Foundation, I lead a team to tell the life-changing stories of Professor Fred Hollows and the work of The Fred Hollows Foundation to treat blindness and vision impairment in resource-challenged environments. QUT’s Executive MBA gave me tools to unpack the high degree of interconnectivity and complexity I face working for an international NGO.'
Innovative learning
'A key highlight of the Executive MBA has been stepping out of my comfort zone and using creative tools to stimulate discussion and thinking. The teaching staff bring a lot of real-world experience to the classroom, with many of them working in industry. Real world examples and case studies are used throughout, and there are lots of opportunities to bring your own examples into class.'
Valuable connections
'The highlight of the Executive MBA was the people. In every instance, when you undertake to transform your life, it is imperative that you surround yourself with the best of the best and then to trust them. The calibre of those I have met along my EMBA journey have influenced and shaped me, as well as connected me to new opportunities (personal and professional). The leadership, admin teams, lecturers and alumni are inspired and engaged and teach me every day.'
Grow your confidence
'QUT’s Executive MBA has given me the confidence to handle complex situations and lead with assurance. In roles as complex as mine, effective communication is vital, and the Executive MBA has significantly enhanced my ability to convey ideas with clarity to a diverse range of stakeholders.'
MIT Immersion Program
'My Executive MBA has provided me with significant opportunities to grow professionally and to challenge myself during the program. The international connection with MIT Sloan School of Management has grown my entrepreneurial mindset, access to an Executive Adviser has provided valuable coaching, and networking opportunities across a credible alumni network has expanded my professional contacts.'
Pivot your career
'Having left the Australian Army, I transitioned into corporate roles within the Defence Industry. As my career was developing it became clear that there were some key areas that required further education and that I would benefit from expanding my network. The Executive MBA stood out as the most suitable study option due to the cohort-based approach. This meant that I was able to build strong relationships with a diverse group of individuals over the two-year period.'
Grow your confidence
'Learnings from the Executive MBA have supported me as a new manager in developing an innovative, efficient and effective team. Knowledge sharing with members of my cohort has allowed me to gain a different perspective on challenges and issues within the workplace.'
Support to succeed
'The QUT Executive MBA gifted me with three important things that I feel have been pivotal in the last few years of my career: general knowledge in all areas required for running and growing a business, professional and personal networks, and ongoing support of QUT academic and industry leaders.'
Be in the business of making a difference
'Through my Executive MBA, I gained a newfound clarity that shaped my professional direction. It transformed my mindset, moving me beyond the pursuit of titles or levels and inspiring me to explore opportunities that aligned with my aspirations and where I could truly contribute value. I became driven by a deep desire to contribute to organisations that aligned with my expertise and passions, going beyond conventional measures of success.'
Flexible delivery
'The flexible nature of the Executive MBA, incorporating both face-to-face and remote learning, enabled me to continue working full-time throughout. This was a key determinant in my decision to undertake the program.'
Real-world learning
'The tools and skills I learned on my Executive MBA journey have helped set me up for success. From understanding all facets of a problem, knowing your stakeholders, tailoring approaches to the audience and strategically managing risk. The ability to hone my public speaking skills has further helped me to communicate with influence and drive positive outcomes.'
Pathway opportunities
'Accessing the Executive MBA through the Graduate Certificate pathway was a perfect option as I did not hold a bachelor's degree. It was a challenge transitioning from "on-the-job" to academic learning. The pathway program allowed my working life experiences to be recognised while also setting the standard of what to expect once I entered the Executive MBA stage of my studies.'
Study tour
'The CPL Study Tour allowed me to be exposed to different cultures and industries that I would not normally have an opportunity to learn from. It helped me to think of my own business environment differently and consider how I can apply these learnings to be more innovative in my industry.'
