QUT’s Graduate Certificate in Podiatric Therapeutics course responds to legislative changes that allow podiatrists to have their registration endorsed for scheduled medicines. The course integrates theoretical, online case studies and supervised practice components to allow students to meet the requirements of the Podiatry Board of Australia for endorsement in the use of scheduled medicines for the treatment of podiatric conditions. The course is supplementary to general or specialist registration as a podiatrist.

Offered on a part-time basis over two semesters, the first semester is online and covers a revision of essential pharmacology, pharmacotherapeutics, prescibing theory and practice. In the second semester, you will acquire the clinical decision-making practical skills and knowledge required for prescribing scheduled medicines through online case simulations, workshops, and 120 hours of WIL involving a short series of intensive mandatory on-campus clinical sessions and supervised external placements.
Throughout the course you will develop competency in all elements of safe prescribing, as described by the National Prescribing Service Competency Framework, and knowledge of the core information sources and guidelines that will underpin your expanded scope of practice as a podiatrist with registration for endorsement for scheduled medicines.

Entry requirements
You must have:
- Completed CS44 Bachelor of Podiatry or CS46 Bachelor of Podiatry (Honours) in 2019 or more recently; and
- Current registration with the Podiatry Board of Australia (or equivalent).
Advanced Standing
Upon offer you will be granted advanced standing for CSN500 Clinical Therapeutics for Health. If you wish to study this unit you will need to apply for semester 2 entry.

You must have:
- A completed recognised four-year degree (or equivalent) in podiatry; and
- Current registration with the Podiatry Board of Australia (or equivalent).
