University Preparation Program (UPP) is your free pathway to undergraduate studies at QUT. You will develop essential academic and tertiary skills through the program including academic communication, mathematics, digital skills and other essential proficiencies that will support your future learning and transition an undergraduate qualification.
Successful completion of the program with a passing grade point average will give you a selection rank of 75.00. Higher selection ranks can be achieved with higher grades, up to a maximum selection rank of 86.95. This selection rank can be used to apply for entry to QUT’s undergraduate courses. The course also covers the prerequisite subjects for QUT’s Bachelor of Education.
This pathway program is designed for students who have completed Year 12 (QCE or equivalent) or be 18 years old at the first QUT census date.

The University Preparation Program (UPP) is a free pathway option to help you gain entry requirements to undergraduate studies. It aims to introduce you to university-style learning in a supportive environment, setting you up for success in your future studies.
The program covers information technology skills, research and writing processes and a wide range of other essential academic skills and is delivered at our Kelvin Grove campus over two semesters with three units per semester.
You will also be introduced to life at QUT and have access to courses and career advice to help you make informed decisions about what your next study option is.
Careers and outcomes
Upon successful completion of UPP, you will have a selection rank that you can use to apply for entry to QUT undergraduate courses.
As this is a new course, the threshold will be available mid-January 2025. If you do not have an ATAR or selection rank, you can still apply as all applications will be considered.

This program is open to applicants who have either completed Year 12 or will be at least 18 years old at the first census date of the program.

Deferment
You can defer your offer and postpone the start of your course for one year.
