It’s real: 120+ LPF recipients join the 2024 graduate cohort

Of the thousands of students who graduated last year, over 120 Learning Potential Fund (LPF) scholarship recipients are starting the next chapter of their lives out in the real world.
Nikki Tran, from the Faculty of Health, received her Bachelor of Behavioural Science (Psychology). Nikki shared her plans for undertaking a master’s degree and becoming a registered psychologist.

“As the first person in my family to graduate, I feel extremely honoured to have received so much support from QUT and donors whose generosity will never be forgotten.”
Another psychology graduate, Olivia Tauro, also received her Bachelor of Justice as part of her dual degree, both of which were with distinction.
"The Learning Potential Fund contributed significantly to my academic outcome, and both lessened worry and alleviated stress during my studies.”
Talking to other members of the QUT Health cohort, Parth Bhoi expressed his gratitude towards LPF donors as he graduated with a Bachelor of Nursing, while fellow graduate Seethal Joji is preparing to start her journey as a graduate nurse.
“I am incredibly grateful to the donors for their generous support, which has made a significant difference in my academic journey,” she said.

A few days later, journalism student Kirilly Mahon graduated alongside hundreds of other students from the Faculty of Creative Industries, Education and Social Justice.
“I never would have thought three years ago, at the end of high school, that I would be in this position,” she said.
Kirilly grew up in a small town in the Darling Downs region, and moved to Brisbane to study at QUT. She’s already landed her first radio job as a journalist and newsreader with Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) – the broadcaster behind the HIT and Triple M networks.

“The generosity of donors has helped me get here. The Learning Potential Fund gave me the freedom to complete an internship, which turned into a job that I love so much.
“I'm getting emotional writing this, but I really have come so far and I couldn't have done it without the scholarship.”
If you would like support more students like Nikki, Olivia, Parth, Seethal and Kirilly, you can make a gift to the Learning Potential Fund. All donations of $2 or more are tax-deductible, and QUT matches every gift dollar-for-dollar.
